If this is the first DojoCon you’re organising, we advise you to start small to avoid overstretching yourself and your team of volunteers. Starting on a smaller scale means there is room for growth and space to learn so you can take your event further in times to come. It is also common to set a DojoCon theme that is relevant to the community. Doing so will help you to recruit speakers, panellists, and workshop leaders, and to boost attendance by rousing the interest of more potential attendees.
Factors to consider when organising a DojoCon:
- Funding the event
- Costs
- Building a DojoCon team
- Choosing a suitable venue
- Volunteer recruitment and management
- Sponsorship and partner management
- On-the-day engagement and workshop activities
- Communications and marketing
- Ticketing
- On-the-day actions of a DojoCon
- How the CoderDojo Foundation can support you
