In 2013, Telenet assisted in the formation of CoderDojo Belgium. Since then, Telenet has become a valuable structural partner that helps shape the CoderDojo movement in Belgium.
This collaboration was founded thanks to our joint ambition to help as many young people as possible to get acquainted with the possibilities of the digital world. Our goal is to prepare children for the future. Through learning to code, children learn logical and creative thinking, which are skills that are becoming increasingly important on the job market. By 2020, there will be about 900000 vacancies across the globe for which such skills are necessary. Moreover, more will be expected from the new generation than just being able to work with standard software programs.
Telenet’s financial assistance has enabled CoderDojo Belgium to hire a dedicated Community Lead. In addition to giving financial and material support, Telenet lets its employees spend one workday per year volunteering for CoderDojo. At the very first MegaDojo in 2015, where more than 1024 young people learned to code, Telenet was the main sponsor and helped us reach more children by providing 110 extra laptops.
