Having a @coderdojo.com email account (e.g. dublin.ie@coderdojo.com) makes managing Dojo communications safer and easier. Many champions choose to have a @coderdojo.com email account set up during the verification process.
A CoderDojo email account:
- Allows the champion and other volunteers to manage all their Dojo’s communications in one place.
- Enables multiple volunteers to access and manage the Dojo’s account. This reduces the workload for the champion and ensures the sustainability of the Dojo if the champion needs to take a leave of absence.
- Is more recognisable for potential Ninjas and parents / guardians looking to get in touch.
- Is a safer channel of communication - using a CoderDojo email address means you do not need to make a pre-existing email address visible online.
How do I get one set up?
To get a @coderdojo.com email account set up for a new Dojo, simply request one when you are filling out the Start a Dojo application form. In the 'Dojo information' section of your application, select the option on the right (see image below). A team member at the CoderDojo Foundation will create the email account for you.
To request a CoderDojo email account for your existing Dojo, please contact info@coderdojo.com, and we will be happy to set it up for you.
Using other email accounts
It is important to note that you cannot use a personal email address for your Dojo. We cannot verify a Dojo application in which the champion has given their personal email address as their Dojo email address. Using a business email account is permitted, but only if other volunteers at your Dojo have access to it. Champions can also set up a brand-new email account for their Dojo, provided the address is used for Dojo-related communications only and accessible to the other volunteers of that Dojo.
