Once your application to create a Dojo is submitted, your verification request will be received by a member of the community team. On average, your verification request will be responded to within 24 hours Monday to Friday.
The following details inputed correctly will ensure a quick verification process:
-
Dojo name - The format of the Dojo name for the listing on the community platform should follow the following format: [Town, State] @ [Venue or Sponsor]. An example of an approved format would be Brooklyn, NY @ Brooklyn Library. Please avoid using the word 'CoderDojo' in the Dojo name.
-
Dojo email address - The Dojo email address should not be a personal email address. It is best practice to provide an email address that multiple Dojo volunteers can access and manage. You can set up your own Dojo email address, or we can issue you an @coderdojo.com email address once we are happy with the rest of your listing. Top tip: Dojos can often get many emails from interested attendees. It may be useful for you to set up an auto-responder so you can let people know more details about your Dojo, for example how to attend, how to mentor etc.
-
Day and time - Add a standard day and time for your Dojo to take place eg. the last Saturday of the month from 2pm-4pm.
-
Dojo venue - Add your location as a full postal-style address. This makes it easier for people to find the venue, and for us to verify that your location is suitable for hosting a Dojo. Please provide as much detail about the venue as possible. Pin the correct co-ordinates on the map included in the application and ensure the coordinates match postal address (roughly).
-
Additional notes - Add informative notes about the Dojo. You can also use the standard notes included within the application.
-
Social media - Add a Twitter and Facebook account that is exclusive to your Dojo and not an account that belongs to a business.
-
Public or private - Specify whether your Dojo is public or private. A private Dojo is open only to a select group of people (eg. school, organisation etc.) and is not open to the general public. By selecting to be listed as a private Dojo, you will be listed on the Dojo map but only as a closed group. We strongly encourage all organisers to aim for their Dojos to be open and accessible to all young people, in other words, public!
