Coolest Projects is an annual gathering of the CoderDojo community, run since 2012, to recognise the achievements of Ninjas in creating hardware and software of all sorts. Ultimately, the event aims to foster Ninjas' creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship while exposing them to the variety of opportunities available to them in STEAM. Coolest Projects takes place in Dublin each year.
Projects entered into Coolest Projects are placed into categories by the Coolest Projects team. These categories are based on the technologies used to create the project. You can learn more about the categories for this year's event on the Coolest Projects website.
Anyone aged 6–17 who is an active participant in a verified Dojo is eligible to enter Coolest Projects.
Participants traveling to Coolest Projects from outside of Ireland may be eligible for a bursary to assist with their travel costs. More details will be available upon registration of a project.
As well as being a showcase of the hard work and talent of the Ninjas in the CoderDojo community, Coolest Projects entries are also reviewed by a panel of judges on four criteria:
- Coolness—How cool and unique is the idea of the project?
- Communication—How well is the idea communicated?
- Design & usability—How does the project look and how user-friendly is it?
- Complexity—How technically complex is the project and the technologies involved?
Regional Coolest Projects
As Coolest Projects and the CoderDojo community have grown, regional Coolest Projects events have been created to enable Ninjas who can't get to Dublin to meet one another and share their awesome coding experiences.
